Vampire Diaries Sneak Peek Photo: Klaus appears on April 21!

Joseph Morgan debuts as the devilish and delectable Klaus on April 21.

OK folks, I know that the news of actor Joseph Morgan’s casting as the much-anticipated villain Klaus broke a while back, but here’s a sneak peek at the handsome Mr. Morgan in full costume in a flashback scene set to air on April 21. All I have to say is: My, what thick, wavy hair you have Mr. Ancient Vampire Baddie! It’s about time you showed up. LOL! I have more behind-the-scenes pictures to share in my next post (hint: Katherine looks gorgeous in her period gowns, plus a certain dead villain with great hair and a British accent makes a return appearance in the flashback). Until then, enjoy the view here and don’t forget to tune in tonight when The Vampire Diaries FINALLY returns with a fresh episode. Did that sound grouchy? Sorry. I’m just famished for fresh VD as I’m sure you all are. Tonight, we feast!

Sneak Peek at scenes from the February 3 episode of The Vampire Diaries! Jonathan Gilbert returns!

Jules may be looking to recruit a vulnerable Tyler to her wolf pack.

The CW has released some sneak peek shots from the February 3 episode of The Vampire Diaries “Daddie Issues,” and it looks like Tyler is going to be smack in the middle of the action.  The pictures make me think there will be a struggle between the Salvatores and Jules for Tyler’s allegiance. If he learns of Mason’s death at the hands of Damon, it may put him in Jules’ camp. She’s got the advantage given that she’s a fellow werewolf. But does that make it right for him to be with her? She’s trouble.  She proves it in a scene that seems to depict a hostage tradeoff. Word from the CW has it things will get violent really fast during the confrontation. Will Feb 3 be the last we see of Jules? In other news, Jeremy comforts Bonnie after she has a disturbing chat with Luka’s dad Jonas, who’s in cahoots with Elijah. Elena, meanwhile, gets an unpleasant surprise when her dad Jonathan shows up. If he’s back for revenge against Katherine for maiming him we know where she can be found. Stay tuned!

The Salvatore brothers seem to be bargaining with Jules using Tyler. Is it a trick?

Is Jules in for a nasty surprise?

A lineup of supernatural hunks!

Will Rose die of rabies on The Vampire Diaries?

The new YouTube preview of the next episode of Vampire Diaries is chilling! We’re finally going to find out what happens to a vampire after getting bitten by a werewolf. We’ve heard for most of the new season about how deadly werewolf bites are for vampires but I’m guessing most of us thought that the results would be like any regular wolf bite — major pain, lots of bloodletting and a relatively quick death. From the looks of the next episode, it appears that the after effects are far more drawn out and gory. As we all know, Rose, who clearly has a crush on Damon regardless of how casual she wants to come off, took a bite meant for him from Jules in wolf form. Although the wound seemed to heal miraculously quick, it was replaced by some ominous, bubbling skin tissue on her shoulder. I think a werewolf’s bite infects a vampire’s bloodstream with a venom that turns him or her into a werewolf-vampire hybrid acting like a zombie straight out of “Night of the Living Dead.” This stuff looks pretty gruesome. Jules is of course pretty happy about it and refuses to help Damon find a cure — if there is one. Elena, our perpetual damsel in distress, seems to be square in the line of fire, as usual. Vampire Diaries seems to be setting up a steady stream of villains this year and I think Jules’ unseen collaborator will figure prominently in the coming weeks, especially if Damon does anything to Jules. Killing werewolves doesn’t seem to be a wise move for peace in Mystic Falls. They move in packs, after all, so it stands to reason there will always be a new one on the scene to avenge the death of a fallen pack mate. I suspect Lauren Cohan, who plays Rose, won’t be on the show much longer so I looked her up on IMDB and found out that she was born in Philadelphia in 198 2 and was raised in the United Kingdom, hence the British accent. She’s in a direct-to-video flick called “Death Race 2″ and will appear as Leto in “Young Alexander the Great.” For more information on Lauren, visit her profile here.

Sneak peek at December 9 Vampire Diaries: Tyler’s first werewolf transformation!

Michaela McManus guest stars as mysterious hottie Jules. Is she a female werewolf?

Get ready for The Vampire Diaries to get a lot hairier on December 9. Tyler is finally going to turn into a werewolf during a full moon with new buddy Caroline at his side to help him through the ordeal. Hopefully she will have him well tied up with strong chains. Something tells me that seeing Tyler go through the agonizing pain of a werewolf transformation will bring Caroline much closer to him. Cue the meaningful glances! Meanwhile, Damon’s cover up of Mason’s murder will be jeopardized when a gorgeous woman named Jules (Michaela McManus) shows up in town looking for Mason. From these scenes released by The CW it appears that she encounters Damon in a chummy-looking scene. Is she cozying up to him because she suspects he was involved in what happened to Mason? As Shakira might ask, might she be a she-wolf? In emerging couple news, Bonnie and Luca collaborate on a spell but keep secrets from each other. I wonder how Jeremy will react to the magical duo’s latest venture. More importantly, how much longer will it take him to punch Luca out? Finally, that nasty, well-coifed vampire Elijah pops up again with an offer that promises to be a major game changer.

Jules toasts with Damon. Are they wicked birds of a feather or playing a game of cat and mouse?

Elena will continue to give Damon and the gang trouble in their efforts to protect her from Elijah and Klaus.

Can Jeremy compete with a guy who can practice magic with Bonnie?

December 2 Vampire Diaries episode preview: The Sacrifice

I”m going through some major Vampire Diaries withdrawal. No fresh episodes until December 2. At least the good folks at the CW Network have posted an exciting extended preview of the next episode on YouTube.  Of course there are a few moments of witchery going on and Jeremy is growing more concerned about the nosebleeds plaguing Bonnie. Alaric gets caught in his birthday suit (It’s about time!). Meanwhile, Elijah is closing in on Elena, who doesn’t want to cooperate with the gang’s efforts to protect her. Looks like Damon may have to throw her over his shoulder and carry her away like a caveman. And if Elena were truly honest with herself, she’d admit that she’d like it… just a little.

Nov. 11 Vampire Diaries Recap: Katherine’s origin is revealed!

Katerina discovered the price she paid for her freedom from Klaus.

November 11 – This flashback episode gives Nina Dobrev quite a workout playing three roles: good girl Elena, modern-day psychotic vampire Katherine and her human self Katerina Petrova in 1400s Bulgaria, who wasn’t so naïve and sweet to begin with. The trip down Katherine’s memory lane is provoked by Elena, who, determined to find a way to stop the convoluted curse involving big bad Original vampire Klaus and practically everyone in Mystic Falls, confronts Kat in the tomb and sends Caroline to distract Stefan while she grills her ancestor. Elena feeds a ravenous Kat small amounts of bottled blood in exchange for bits of information. We learn that Katerina shamed her family by birthing a daughter out of wedlock. No warm and fuzzy “Papa Don’t Preach” endings here, folks. The Bulgarians played rough in the 1400s. Kat’s papa swiped the baby and banished her from the village to protect the family’s reputation. Ending up in England, Katerina fell into the clutches of the mysterious Klaus and split as soon as she discovered his horrible plot to drain her — a Petrova family doppelganger — to break the curse. Although Kat looked like an innocent waif, all cinched waist, tumbling curls and heaving bosom, she was actually pretty crafty and, realizing she wouldn’t be valuable to Klaus if she lost her humanity, she tricked Trevor and Rosemarie into helping her become a vampire by first drinking some of Rosemarie’s blood, then hanging herself to finish the transformation. Unfortunately for her family, she had underestimated Klaus’ appetite for revenge and Kat returned to Bulgaria only to find them all slaughtered. While Elena plays This is Your Life with Katherine, Damon launches his own investigation into finding a way to solve the curse and teams up with Rosemarie, who teases him about his unrequited love for Elena. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m not likin’ Rose. She’s about as sexy as a grilled cheese sandwich, so she better not get any ideas about replacing Elena in Damon’s heart. In any case, the two head to a café to meet up with Slater, an old vampire pal of Rosemarie’s who has a million degrees and provides fresh clues about ways to beat Klaus’ diabolical plans for Elena & Co.

Rosemarie turned to Damon in her pain over losing Trevor.

Just as Slater is about to reveal a juicy tidbit, Elijah literally crashes the party by tossing loose change through the café’s windows with such force that the coins shatter the windows, sending deadly sunlight into the cafe, leaving Slater and Rose writhing in pain. Slater escapes in a panic while Damon tends to Rose. The experience temporarily bonds the two vamps, who hook up in an effort to forget their respective lost loves. The scene is more bland than sexy. In other developments, Bonnie and Jeremy meet a new student at school named Luka Martin who has instant chemistry with the pretty young witch, to Mr. Gilbert’s dismay. When Luka’s dad Jonas quizzes a spooked Bonnie about having Salem relatives, Luka confesses that they are practitioners of magic, too. Their common bond leaves Jeremy further out in the cold.  Both Jeremy and Bonnie have more to worry about. When Stefan wises up to Caroline’s diversionary tactics about revealing her secret to Tyler, he shows up at the tomb in time for Katherine to reveal that she was cooking up a recipe to break the curse just before she was trapped by Team Mystic Falls.  Breaking the curse would require not only sacrificing Elena, but the participation of a werewolf (Tyler), a vampire (Caroline), a witch (Bonnie) and the moonstone. The guilt of putting her friends in danger is too much for Elena to bear. Rose gets a call from Slater, who, compelled by Elijah, tells her to get the moonstone back. He then stakes himself at Elijah’s command. Luka’s dad is present to witness the ancient vamp’s latest kill. What role does the warlock play in this convoluted mystery? More importantly, whatever happened to Katerina’s baby?

Damon confesses his love for Elena (sort of) on The Vampire Diaries

Elijah's the big, bad new vampire in Mystic Falls. He dresses well, too.

Damon is finding it harder to conceal his growing love for Elena.

November 4 – Where does the CW find all these gorgeous creatures? By creatures I mean young actors who look like they should be walking a runway. As if The Vampire Diaries didn’t already have enough pretty young things of the villainous and heroic variety, tonight’s episode introduces us to a brand new baddie who spells bad news for Elena. He’s tall, chiseled and has poufy hair that rivals that of the Salvatore brothers, and that’s quite a feat! The writers are delving deeper into the past of the Mystic Falls vampire lore with Katherine safely tucked away with the moonstone in the crypt (for now, anyway). The new crop of vamps include a pair named Rosemarie and Trevor who have been on the run from this hottie named Elijah for hundreds of years. Trevor had compelled the masked man who swiped Elena at the end of last week’s masquerade ball episode then killed him after he had delivered her. When Elena comes to in an abandoned house in a different town, she learns from Rosemarie that as Katherine’s doppelganger, she’s the key to breaking a curse that is bound by the moonstone everyone’s running around trying to get their hands on. I’m guessing it cures vampirism. The worst part is that Elena needs to be sacrificed in order for this curse to be broken. While Elena shivers in her boots waiting for this Elijah dude to show up, Bonnie joins forces with Jeremy and casts a tracing spell using a few drops of his blood to track Elena’s location on a map. Talk about blood ties! Damon and Stefan immediately embark on a road trip to rescue Elena during which they bond over their shared concern for her. Damon won’t admit his true feelings for Elena and Stefan shares that he’s been feeding on her blood to strengthen himself. “How romantic!,” says Damon with a jealous sneer. Back in Mystic Falls, Bonnie uses her magic to let Elena know the Salvatore brothers are on the way to rescue her, but the spell knocks her unconscious. Jeremy’s concerned over the toll her escalating use of magic is taking on her body but Bonnie makes him promise to keep her weakness a secret from everyone, especially Damon. Caroline, meanwhile, is keeping tabs on Tyler, who thinks she’s another werewolf. He learns differently during a scuffle with her in which she overpowers him and, composing herself after baring her fangs, tells him sweetly that she’s not like him. Still, their supernatural secrets form a powerful bond between them that promises to get tricky since Damon forbade Caroline to reveal their vampire identities to Tyler lest he take revenge against them for what Damon did to Mason. Time will tell where this twist leads. In any case, I like the chemistry between them although I’m sure Matt won’t. When Elijah shows up at the house, Trevor trembles while Rosemarie negotiates with him for their freedom in exchange for Elena. Elijah is intrigued and pardons Rosemarie but beheads Trevor. Always read the fine print in a vampire’s promise, folks! Just as Elijah tries to whisk Elena away the Salvatores show up and team up against the powerful ancient vamp in a well choreographed attack that succeeds in staking him. Damon gazes lovingly at Elena as she runs in his direction… right into Stefan’s waiting arms. After Elena is reunited with Jeremy and Bonnie, the Salvatores agree to maintain a truce in order to keep her safe from the bad vamps coming out of the woodwork to sacrifice her. Damon visits Elena and, in a heart-tugging scene sure to make Team Damon fans swoon, finally confesses he loves her only to wipe the memory from her mind with his tear-filled eyes before returning her vervain necklace. Stefan, meanwhile, gets a visit from Rosemarie who warns him vamps will continue hunting Elena to turn her over to an ominous-sounding guy called Klaus. Might he be the king of vampires, named after Klaus Kinski who played Count Dracula in the 1979 remake of the classic vampire film Nosferatu? For now the Salvatores and Elena have more pressing concerns; namely, Elijah, who isn’t quite as dead as everyone thinks!

Will Rosemarie go after Stefan now that she's lost her companion Trevor?

Elena delves deeper into the mystery of Katherine in the November 11 Vampire Diaries.

Will Damon get closer to solving the mystery of the moonstone?

The CW has leaked some details of the upcoming November 11 episode of The Vampire Diaries called “Katerina.”  As you can guess, the story explores Katherine’s past more deeply as Elena determines to find out what the link between them is.  Damon, meanwhile, meets some new characters who may hold the key to solving the mystery of the moonstone.  Bonnie and Jeremy’s newfound bond seems to be growing, but I suspect a new character  named Luka (played by guest star Bryton James) may put a damper on their blossoming romance. Check out these scenes from the episode!

The Salvatores set a trap for Katherine and there’s a new werewolf in town on The Vampire Diaires.

Have we really seen the last of Katherine? Don't bet on it!

Murder at the Masquerade Ball!

October 28 – Unbeknownst to Elena, half the population of Mystic Falls has banded together in a grand scheme to end Katherine’s reign of terror by killing her at the Lockwood family’s annual Masquerade Ball benefit for the homeless. Katherine, of course, has a crafty plan of her own and it involves a hot witch named Lucy who looks like Eva Mendes. Lucy owes Kat a big favor and her magic powers would come in handy during the confrontation she expects after she corners Caroline and orders her to tell the Salvatores to turn the coveted moonstone over to her. Lucy asks whether Katherine hopes to use it to reverse “the curse.” What curse could she be referring to? Matt, the ticking time bomb under Katherine’s influence, helps Alaric, Jeremy and Elena bring Jenna home to recover after stabbing herself on a vengeful Kat’s orders. Jeremy heads to the ball to join the Salvatores, Caroline and Bonnie put their plan into action. Those annoying drunk girls who partied with Tyler and Jeremy a few weeks back, nearly activating Tyler’s werewolf curse, are both at the ball and will play pivotal roles in the night’s events. Hint, hint. Drunk girl #1, well, to be fair she’s not so drunk this time, provides Katherine a convenient murder victim to prove to Stefan – right on the dance floor — that she means business! Upstairs, Jeremy helps Bonnie set up a room where she casts a spell that will figure in the team’s plot against Katherine and the two slowly begin to bond. Bonnie starts to notice that Jeremy is growing up nicely.

Will Bonnie and Jeremy become a new couple?

Next, Caroline plays bait for Katherine and tricks her into entering the bewitched room. Suddenly Kat cannot exit the room and the Salvatore brothers jump into action armed with wooden stakes. Although Damon succeeds in stabbing Katherine, Elena, who had arrived on the scene to stop Jeremy from getting further involved in the battle against Kat, starts to feel Katherine’s pain and bleeds from the wounds the Salvatores inflict on their malevolent maker. Bonnie realizes that Elena’s been linked magically to Kat and sends Jeremy to stop the Salvatores. A smug Katherine taunts Damon and Stefan who are helpless to retaliate against her lest they hurt their beloved Elena. Hmm, I sounded like Katherine in that sentence. I promise I’m not taking sides; Now back to the recap. Downstairs, Caroline puts a stop to Katherine’s plot involving Matt by punching him unconscious before he nearly provokes Tyler into attacking him. Unfortunately, Katherine had a sleeper agent in Drunk Girl #2, who stabs Tyler and dies from a blow to the head after Tyler shoves her away. Sure enough, Tyler immediately gets those spooky, glowing wolf eyes. Ironically, Drunk Girl #2 was the same one who nearly activated his curse when she fell down the stairs at his house. Caroline confides in Tyler that she knows his secret. Will the werewolf pup and baby vampire grow closer through their similar circumstances?  Bonnie confronts Lucy about the spell that bound Kat and Elena and they team up to turn the tables on an unsuspecting Katherine by removing Lucy’s spell and hexing the moonstone so that it immobilizes her.  It turns out that Lucy is Bonnie’s cousin and a nice witch after all. Before leaving, she tells Bonnie to accept her responsibility to help fight evil in Mystic Falls with her awesome powers. I hope we see Lucy again. She’s cool. Jeremy gives Bonnie a ride home. Are they Mystic Falls’ newest twosome? Elena’s not ready to pick things up again with Stefan despite Katherine’s defeat. Kat wakes up as Damon seals her in the vampire tomb she had avoided centuries ago. She pleads with him, warning him that Elena is in danger and she can help the Salvatores keep her safe, to no avail. Next thing you know, Elena is kidnapped by a masked man on her way home!

New behind-the-scenes shots from The Vampire Diaries masquerade ball episode!

The CW has released some fun behind-the-scenes pictures from tomorrow’s big masquerade ball episode and they look juicy!  Everyone is looking tres chic in formal disguises. Nina Dobrev looks a bit like Catwoman in her get up. They don’t call her Kat for nothing! There are a few plot twists to look for.  A very tall woman who supposedly knows Katherine arrives on the scene. TV Guide described her as a witch and from some of these shots it looks like she’s gonna lay some heavy stuff on Bonnie. As we know from last week’s cliff-hanger, Katherine is setting Matt up to be a victim for Tyler’s easily provoked temper so that his werewolf curse kicks in. TV Guide reported that two characters will meet their maker in the episode so I’m wondering if Matt is one of them. He hasn’t been getting a lot of screen time lately since Caroline became a vampire and broke up with him for his own good, so maybe the producers are getting us used to living without him. That would be a pity.  I like his chemistry with Caroline. Stay tuned, folks!

Nina Dobrev gets help putting on her catlike mask.

A lighthearted moment for Paul Wesley. Dancing with beautiful Nina must be a pleasure!

Is the tall newcomer to Mystic Falls a friend or foe?

Is this Matt's swan song?

Katerina Graham and Steven R. McQueen look hot in formalwear.

The new witch on the block has a serious chat with Bonnie.
