The Vampire Diaries April 26 Sneak Peek video!

Alaric is gonna continue to get more screen time next week (Yay!) as this sneak peek footage from The CW shows. Looks like Ric is planning some time out of town after his run-in with Esther-as-Rebekah in the cave. Damon has a bad feeling about Alaric’s plan. I do, too. Is it really Bad Ric pretending to be Good Ric to lure Damon into a trap? Tune in next week, TVD fans!

The Vampire Diaries April 19 Episode Sneak Peek Video: Elena & Alaric chat.

Howdy. It’s been ages since I’ve posted and, well, it’s been ages since we’ve had a fresh episode of TVD to get excited about. I practically forgot where we left off. Just kidding. The focus lately has been on poor Alaric’s split personality and this preview scene from The CW shows Elena having a heart-to-heart with Ric about her impending road trip to Denver with Damon to get Jeremy before Klaus can get to him. It seems Stefan suggested the trip as a way for Elena to work through her feelings for Damon. Hmm, now let me see. Elena alone on the road with red-hot Damon Salvatore’s smokin’ bod, irresistible smirk and sexy eyebrows on a long trip across the country? How might they pass the time? Bad idea, Stefan! Don’t miss the first of the final four episodes of the season tomorrow night!

The Vampire Diaries January 5 recap: Jeremy leaves Mystic Falls (and Damon kisses Elena again)!

Damon is tired of feeling guilty for "wanting what he wants."

January 5 – Jeremy goes through some major changes and Elena makes “A New Deal” with Klaus to protect someone she loves as The Vampire Diaries returns from its holiday break with a twisty, action-packed episode. The Mystic Falls gang is feeling antsy waiting around for Klaus to retaliate in response to Stefan’s theft of the coffins containing the remaining members of his slumbering family. Bonnie is haunted by a spooky premonition of finding the coffins while Elena has an unsettling encounter with a handsome stranger who turns out to be one of Klaus’s hybrid henchman stalking her as she jogs. Damon gets tipsy drinking alone at The Grill while he and Alaric try to figure out what Stefan and Klaus are up to. Meanwhile, everyone is concerned about Jeremy’s behavior in the wake of his breakup with Bonnie. Elena’s baby brother has taken to cheating on this schoolwork, got fired from his job at The Grill and, most alarmingly, is suddenly buddy-buddy with Tyler. When the trio springs an intervention on Jeremy it backfires and he invites Tyler into the Gilbert-Saltzman home. Now a dangerous hybrid under the influence of Klaus has complete access to their home, Elena worries. Although Tyler assures the gang he’s not a threat to them, Klaus activates a deadly plan B from afar when his ploy to win Damon’s cooperation in getting the coffins back from Stefan fails. To wear down Damon and Elena’s resistance, Klaus compels Jeremy to stand in front of an oncoming SUV driven by his henchman but Ric pushes Jeremy out of the way and is “killed” temporarily while Elena tends to her confused brother. Jeremy is fed up with the daily threats to his life and confronts Tyler about weaning him off vervane to make him vulnerable to Klaus’s influence. Tyler, in turn, is miffed at Klaus’s willingness to sacrifice Jeremy to achieve his goals. Bonnie discovers that Stefan is hiding the Originals’ coffins in the abandoned house haunted by the grouchy witches from the past and clues Elena in. When Elena asks Stefan for his help to protect Jeremy, she’s disgusted by his refusal and slaps him! Damon endures the agonizing sunlight unleashed by the witches to keep him out of the house and drags Stefan outside where he beats his younger brother into admitting he spared Klaus to save Damon’s life. The Salvatores agree to cooperate to work against Klaus while keeping Elena out of the line of fire. Elena, however, has other ideas. She reveals to Klaus Rebekah’s daggered body in exchange for his pledge to not hurt Jeremy. He promises to keep Rebekah from hurting her but Elena warns him that he will need protection from Rebekah as well since she now knows that he killed their mother back in the good old days. Klaus somberly decides to keep his unpredictable sister daggered, which leaves the door open for the eventual arrival of Klaus’s two other brothers Finn and Kol, played by Casper Zafer and Nathaniel Buzolic, respectively.

Have we seen the last of Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen)?

When Ric comes back to life his protection ring fails to cure him of his internal injuries from the car accident and Elena calls an ambulance. The paramedics, however, turn out to be under the control of Klaus’s henchman, who demands to be let inside in order to save Ric. Just as it looks hopeless, Jeremy shoots him with a crossbow and decapitates him in front of his horrified sister. At the hospital, Ric’s regenerative power catches the attention of a sexy doctor played by Paul Wesley’s wife Torrey DeVitto, who’s rockin’ a serious Angelina Jolie vibe. Will the hot doc help Ric with his damaged power or will she complicate matters? Stay tuned! After cleaning the latest blood stains off her porch, Elena decides to take drastic action to keep Jeremy out of harm’s way. Damon compels Jeremy to leave Mystic Falls indefinitely as a tearful Elena looks on. Feeling guilty when a grateful Elena cozies up to him, Damon admits that Stefan didn’t really betray them when he saved Klaus then he indulges himself by giving her a red-hot kiss that’s worth feeling guilty over. The kiss leaves Elena breathless and Stefan one step closer to losing his gal. Watch out Team Stelena!

The Vampire Diaries November 10 Episode Recap: Klaus kills Mikael and frees Stefan!

The scene is set for a Stefan - Klaus showdown when The Vampire Diaries returns January 5.

Nov. 10 – The title of The Vampire Diaries’latest episode “Homecoming,” has a double meaning as Mystic Falls High gets ready for the homecoming dance, which sets the stage for a deadly family reunion between a returning Klaus and his daddy dearest Mikael. It’s a labyrinth of plots and counterplots where the players literally stab each other in the back and it’s hard to keep track of who’s on top. The Salvatores and Elena enter an uneasy alliance with Mikael to lure Klaus back to town and set up an elaborate plot in which Mikael lets Elena stab him with one of the mystical daggers that puts vampires in suspended animation – an undead coma of sorts – so that Stefan can call his master and deliver the news of his father’s death without needing to lie and risk ruining the plan. Rebekah, having learned how merciless Klaus can be, joins in the masquerade and tells him on the phone that the coast is clear for his return to Mystic Falls. Becky is still hurting over her recent trip down bad-memory lane with Elena and berates her father for destroying their family after Elena brings him back to undead life. Later, Rebekah, looking super hot in a red strapless dress, opens up to Elena again as she prepares to be escorted to the homecoming dance by Matt. Suspecting that Rebekah could endanger their plot, Elena daggers her in the back. Damon is proud of Elena’s new-found treacherous streak, but she admits she doesn’t really have the killer instinct and fears she may be the weak link in their team when the showdown with Klaus finally comes. Damon confides to her that he has a top-secret plan. Nobody realizes that Klaus has one, too. Caroline and Tyler bicker over his oafish behavior now that he’s a macho hybrid devoted to Klaus. She’s particularly peeved that Tyler set up Matt with Becky, whom she refers to as an evil blood slut. With Rebekah on ice, Elena takes her place as Matt’s date but a suspiciously timed flood at the school moves the party to a new location where Tyler sets up a festive “wake” – complete with a performance by the rock band My Morning Jacket — for Klaus’s not-so-lamented father. To ensure that Stefan doesn’t interfere with the plot against his master, Mikael bites him into unconsciousness.

Katherine did a great job pretending to be Elena while Matt looked hot, as usual.

At Klaus’s celebration, Tyler learns that his sire has surrounded the gang with an army of hybrids prepared to retaliate should anything happen to Klaus. Fearing a bloody showdown, Tyler stabs Caroline with a needle full of vervane to knock her out and asks Matt to get her out of danger. He next tangles with Damon, driven by his instinct to protect Klaus, but their fight is ended by a powerful mind zap from Bonnie. Damon has the dagger to end all daggers crafted by Mikael using wood from the tree that helped create the Original Vampires. This, folks, is the Super Dagger. Mikael finally shows up at the festivities but cannot enter the house that keeps Klaus safe. Daddy discovers that Klaus’s minions have encircled him and are on orders to tear him apart at the snap of Klaus’s fingers. Unfortunately for the Klauster, his daddy outmaneuvers him and reveals that he has compelled the hybrids’ vampire sides to do his bidding, overriding Klaus’s orders. He pulls out Elena and threatens to kill her to deprive Klaus of the precious blood he needs to grow his hybrid family. Check and mate. An emotional Klaus trades insults with his fiendish father and calls Mikael’s bluff. Mikael promptly stabs Elena – in the back, of course – momentarily distracting Klaus so that Damon can tackle him and kill him. Just as Damon is about to deliver a final blow, Stefan stops him and Klaus grabs the dagger and plunges it into Mikael’s heart. Once again, Klaus is top dog in Mystic Falls … so to speak. It turns out that “Elena” was really Katherine doing a great impersonation of her virtuous lookalike and, after lobbing some wolf’s-bane grenades at Klaus’s cronies, the Kat hightails it out of town to escape Klaus’s wrath. Tagging along with her is Stefan, whom she convinces to get back in touch with his humanity, even if it’s just to get even with Klaus. Damon is angry with Stefan for ruining his plan to kill Klaus, not knowing that it was a move Stefan made to regain his freedom and save his brother. Stefan’s first act as a newly free man is to swipe the treasured caskets of Klaus’s family. It’s Klaus’s move now. To be continued on January 5. Groan.

The Vampire Diaries November 3 Episode Recap: Mikael is Klaus’s father!

Rebekah and Klaus have a seriously twisted family history.

November 3 – This week’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, Ordinary People, was, um… kind of ordinary. Don’t get me wrong, I realize we learned a few important nuggets of information that shed light on Klaus’s family history – correction, the history of vampires, period – but I’ve grown accustomed to the high-octane action that’s been taking place week after week lately. I like my vampires snarling, pouncing and tearing a few heads off here and there. Last night the focus was on family issues and boy, does the Original Family have issues!  Our NCIS team of Alaric, Damon and Elena figure out that the hieroglyphics in the Lockwood family cave tell the story of Klaus’s Viking family: Rebekah, Elijah and another  ill-fated brother (more on him later), mom Esther and (surprise!) daddy dearest Mikael, whom we all know ends up a vampire-hunting bloodsucker.  After Ric takes pictures of the cave markings to create a map of clues for the terrific trio to decipher, the gang split up. Ric works with Bonnie to figure out the Original Witch’s role in the whole Klaus family drama, Damon looks after the captive Stefan, and Elena pressures Rebekah to fess up about what makes Klaus tick. A loyal Becky ain’t too keen on givin’ up the goods on her big bro at first since they’ve been on the run together forever, but realizing the extra amount of camera time she’d get by narrating the tale (and perhaps winning a role on her own CW show down the line after she inevitably gets offed), she warms up to some girl talk with Miss Elena. OK, so maybe I editorialized that bit. Blondie shares that daddy was a strict Viking ogre who was especially tough on poor rambunctious Klaus – or Nicklaus as he was originally named. As Elijah had told Elena,  Mommy Original had a little somethin’ somethin’ with one of the neighboring werewolves and the result was Klaus, who got his baby brother killed by rampaging werewolves they were spying on during their transformation. This started a war between the wolves and Daddy, who got the bright idea that having a witch turn his family into bloodsucking supernaturals would give them a fighting chance against their lupine foes. When the family’s witch confidante Ayana refused to cooperate with his twisted plot he made mom, who conveniently was also a witch, do the deed. Rebekah was told by Klaus that their father later killed their mom in a fit of revenge but it was really Klaus who killed her after he got wind of the fact that Mom had suppressed his werewolf nature with a well-meaning hex.

Will Rebekah (Claire Holt) really help Elena and the gang defeat Klaus?

Elena figures out this part of Klaus’s secret and spills the beans to Rebekah, who is devastated by the Greek tragedy that is her family history. A psychotherapist stands to make a mint off these kids, folks. While Elena wears down Rebekah’s defenses, Damon takes Stefan to a bar to loosen up over some beers, feed on a hot blonde, and compare bad-boy notes.  Damon berates Stefan for being a wimp for Klaus and Stefan hits a nerve by telling his brother that his guilt over putting Stefan in the Klauster’s service is a sign that he’s going soft. Damon pummels his smug brother, but Stefan was only saying what we all know. He’s going all gooey-squishy inside. The Salvatores are distracted from their bickering by Mickael, who shows up and forces Stefan to summon Klaus back to Mystic Falls by nearly ripping Damon’s heart out.  At least we know where Klaus gets his negotiating skills. Damon surprises Elena in her bedroom (fully clothed, alas) and the two share their respective victories dealing with Mikael and Rebekah. Turning to the subject of Stefan, Elena tells Damon that, ultimately, it will be Stefan’s love for Damon that will pull him out of the darkness rather than his love for her.  A sweet scene for sure, but I still want to know what’s going on with Katherine.  I suspect we’ll find out on the mid-season cliffhanger next week.

The Vampire Diaries October 13 Episode Sneak Preview Pictures: The Reckoning

The action on the next episode of The Vampire Diaries takes place on Senior Prank Night before the new school year begins at Mystic Falls High School. Caroline has the school spirit and wants to share it with Elena, Bonnie, Matt and Tyler, but with Klaus and Stefan back in town, I have a feeling the night’s pranks will take a seriously dangerous turn.  So what else is new? Damon turns to Jeremy to tap into the other side to find a way to stop Klaus. Let’s just hope they find a way to stop him before he forces Stefan to drain Elena like this week’s commercials are showing.

The Vampire Diaries September 22 Episode Recap: Caroline is held hostage by her own father!

Ray and his pack mates were doomed to fail the hybrid transformation process because Elena is still alive.

September 22 – A full moon is set to descend on Mystic Falls and you know what that means. Things are gonna get mighty hairy for our Vampire Diaries favorites. After a bitter Damon gives up on Stefan for killing Andie, Elena turns to Alaric for help in going after Stefan. She gets a lead fromTyleron locations inTennesseewhere werewolves would find sanctuary then heads off to the Smokey Mountains with Ric. Preparing for their dangerous mission, Ric gives Elena some wolf’s bane and she hands him her protection ring. What Elena doesn’t know is that Alaric had clued Damon in on their plans and he shows up to keep her out of trouble. Seemingly annoyed by his interference, Elena is begrudgingly comforted by his presence. But is a forest teeming with bloodthirsty werewolves the best place for Damon to be?  Klaus and Stefan discover the camp site of Ray’s pack and commence the process of transforming them into hybrids, using the human boyfriend of one of the she-wolves as a blood bank for the famished were-vamps when they come to. Unfortunately, the process doesn’t work out as planned and a convulsing Ray, bleeding out of his eyes, goes rabid, biting Stefan as he escapes. Klaus tells Stefan he won’t save him with his hybrid blood until he brings Ray back. Damon, Elena and Ric encounter Ray first, however, and subdue him. After tying him up in chains they attempt to interrogate him but he begins to transform into a wolf before the full moon even appears! A feral Ray later gets into a scrap with Damon, and Stefan arrives in the nick of time to save his brother by ripping Ray’s heart out. Stefan asks Damon to return Elena to safety. Elena, meanwhile, convinces Alaric that they should be there for each other now that they’ve both lost so much. Alaric agrees to move back in, and he wisely decides to keep the protection ring. Stefan returns to the camp site to find Klaus surrounded by dead hybrids. They had all gone rabid or bled out and Klaus can’t understand how the transformations failed after he had completed every step of breaking the curse that prevented hybrids from walking the Earth.  A look of realization flashes across Klaus’s face. Has he figured out that Elena – the doppelganger who needed to die to break the curse – isn’t six feet under? Stefan distracts him, for now, anyway, by convincing him to heal his werewolf bite. Stefan is, after all, his only companion left, Klaus says morbidly. Back in Mystic Falls, Tyler and Jeremy are in for some shocking discoveries. Waking up to find Caroline gone after their steamy night together,Tyler has some awful-tasting coffee while chatting with his mom about his tryst with Caroline. When Tyler leaves, Mrs. Lockwood summons a man named Bill (played by Jack Coleman of “Heroes” fame) to take care of her vampire problem. Tyler tastes some vervane at The Grill and Matt clues him in about the substance’s use for outing vampires. Tyler realizes his mom was testing him and confronts her. She admits she knows that Caroline is a vamp and forbids him to see her because she’s a monster. Tyler decides to show his prejudiced mother that the Lockwoods have a “monster” of their own in the family and chains himself up while she watches his werewolf transformation from the safety of a locked cell. In the morning, an enlightened Mrs. Lockwood promises to make things right with Caroline but finds that “Bill” isn’t keen on releasing Caroline just because she had a change of heart. When Caroline comes to, she’s shocked to learn that her jailer is her own father. Awkward! Jeremy convinces Matt to help him bridge the gateway between the living and the dead by gathering some of Vicky’s possessions to tap into her vibe. Although hesitant at first, Matt agrees to help and Jeremy gets another visit from his (first) dead girlfriend, whom I must say is looking gorgeous. Death certainly becomes her. Vicky’s ghost tells Jeremy that she is able to return from the dead, then abruptly disappears. Appearing in her place is Anna (dead girlfriend #2), who warns Jeremy not to trust Vicky. The plot thickens! When Damon, Elena and Alaric return home, Damon forces Elena to admit she bid a hasty retreat from the woods in Tennessee out of fear for the werewolf threat to Damon’s life. Taking Elena’s face in his hands, Damon vows to make her remember her feelings for him after they succeed in rescuing Stefan. Looks like Miss Elena has a choice to make in the near future.  Do you think Damon is making progress in his quest to win her over?
